Governor of the Abidjan Autonomous District, this prominent figure in the presidential majority, has been chosen by Alassane Ouattara to lead the new government. He replaces Patrick Achi, who had held the position since March 2021.
Ivorian President Alassane Ouattara appointed Robert Beugré Mambé as prime minister on Monday, after over a week of rumours and speculation.
When he came to power in 2011, Ouattara appointed Mambé — a stalwart of the Rally of Houphouëtists for Democracy and Peace — as governor of the Abidjan Autonomous District. A defector from the Democratic Party of Côte d’Ivoire and a former associate of Henri Konan Bédié, he had secured aand was widely regarded as one of his closest collaborators.
