returning to top-flight action after being sacked four years agoThe officials at Stockley Park told Madley to have another look and Costa was shown his first Premier League red card.Despite being famous for disciplinary issues, the Spaniard somehow managed to avoid being sent off in the Premier League during his three-year spell at Chelsea.
Now, though, the 34-year-old has more red cards than goals since returning to England as an emergency striker for Wolves. Somehow it took until Costa’s 95th Premier League appearance to be shown a red card – but perhaps things would have been different if VAR existed between 2014 and 2017. The striker, who won two Premier League titles at Stamford Bridge, will now miss the next three matches for Wolves, leaving them short up front once again.
