This is according to a consolidated disaster report detailing the impact of flooding on Pietermaritzburg and surrounding areas. The report was presented by acting city manager Nelisiwe Ngcobo to council on Tuesday. It focused mainly on the floods between April 9 to 17.
Council heard that the City’s disaster management unit received “many false” claims submitted by some residents after the floods.
