Booker said Monday that the moderate former vice president “can best unify all of us”
is not necessarily surprising, but are notable because both candidates had previously hit Biden over his past record and remarks on race during the campaign. Speaking on CBS News on Monday, Booker cited the importance of black voters to the Democratic party, and said he is “happy to see the coalitions Joe Biden is building.” “I know confidently that he’s going to govern in a way that brings us together as a nation across racial, religious, even party lines,” he said.
While the high-profile support is certainly another boost for Biden, what will perhaps be the most consequential endorsement of the Democratic primary has yet to be made. All eyes right now are on Warren, the progressive who had been the last serious contender toof the race. She has not yet thrown her support behind one of the remaining candidates, but her recommendation would be a significant win for whichever candidate she lines up behind.
