The men who were jailed, tried and hanged at Fort Sam have never had their names cleared.
Pastor Kyev Tatum Sr. of New Mount Rose Missionary Baptist Church in Fort Worth led the group of nearly three dozen people in a “circle for clemency” prayer for 19 Black soldiers who were hanged here, 13 of them 105 years ago Sunday.

But Tatum and others also are pursuing another course, pressing President Joe Biden to issue a blanket pardon for the men convicted in the 1917 mutiny, also known as the Houston Riot.
