She shared her story to show others just how long the virus could stay in the body

Coronavirus sufferer Amy Episcope has been forced to buy a hazmat suit after she remained contagious even after overcoming symptoms of Covid-19 sufferer has been forced to buy a hazmat suit after discovering she was still highly contagious eight days after her symptoms disappeared. Lawyer Amy Episcope tested positive for Covid-19 after falling seriously-ill last month, and self-quarantined at home.

She recovered from the illness, and was told she could leave her home after eight days with no symptoms – only to pay for a re-test, and discover she was still infected with the virus.‘I’m extremely concerned about the people that I could unknowingly be infecting relying on the information that I was allowed to go outside.’ Before her re-test, Amy went shopping for essentials, but wore a mask while doing so, and did not touch any elevator buttons.

She now faces another three weeks in quarantine, and has shared her story in a bid to warn others of just how long the virus can stay in a host’s body, amid previous claims sufferers who have recovered can remove themselves from quarantine after a fortnight.A shortage of equipment means that only the most seriously-ill coronavirus sufferers are given multiple tests to confirm that they have recovered from the illness.

Amy bought a hazmat suit to wear to her next test, in a bid to keep others safe if she is still infectious in May.‘I would kind of explain it like a ping pong ball going through your body. You never know what’s going to happen next.’ The United States has so-far diagnosed over 855,000 cases of coronavirus, with close to 48,000 people dying while infected with Covid-19. Amy’s home state of Illinois has over 35,000 cases and more than 1,500 deaths.
