BREAKING: Coronavirus hotspot New York sees deaths drop below 300 for 1st time in months
New York Governor Andrew Cuomo announced his state had seen its lowest daily Covid-19 death toll for months capital New York has seen the daily Covid-19 death rate drop below 300 for the first time since March. A total of 289 people have died of Covid-19 in the last 24 hours.
New York State Governor Andrew Cuomo said the number of people hospitalized and put on ventilators continued to drop. But coronavirus diagnoses themselves have sat stubbornly at just under 1,000 a day, with 954 people testing positive in the last 24 hours. Cuomo has now vowed to ‘drill down’ to try and discover more about those people still being infected, in a bid to try and lower the infection rate further.
Governor Cuomo did not rule out the prospect of students having to attend summer school after the outbreak forced schools to cancel classes in a bid to curb the spread of the infection. He said a decision on schooling would be made later this month, and that it was too early to say whether classes could resume in the fall.
