Vieceli is one of the workers on the front line of the pandemic who have been sharing their stories about the extra pressure they face as women., alongside her role as a special adviser to the ministry of health in Ethiopia. She told the BBC that most health workers in the east African country and the US were women but senior leadership was mainly men - something which she suggests has life-threatening consequences.
“We’ve noticed how certain PPE [protective kit] ] is made for men," she said."Even the hair covers are made to fit men.”, university student Basi Letebele is looking for work after losing her job at a supermarket a few weeks ago. She was using the money to pay for her studies and support her three-year-old daughter.
