John Cornyn and Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson met Thursday with federal and local law enforcement leaders to review security plans for tournament matches and related events across the region. The meeting, held at Dallas police headquarters, was billed as a show of the local and federal law enforcement partnerships being assembled ahead of the international tournament’s run. It featured remarks from Dallas police Chief Daniel Comeaux, along with representatives from the Arlington Police Department, FIFA, FC Dallas and the U.S. Secret Service Dallas Field Office. Cornyn pointed to $625 million that Congress set aside for World Cup security and planning — funding created in the Big Beautiful Bill pushed for and signed by President Donald Trump. He said roughly $100 million of those funds would go toward Texas, including Dallas and Houston.
