The mic-drop moment was a direct response to Bregman, who had similarly used that quote in reference to his team after the Astros clinched the AL West title on the final day of the regular season.
Second-time World Series MVP Corey Seager fired back at Astros third baseman Alex Bregman during the Rangers’ celebration on Friday.
“I just have to say one thing,” Seager told the crowd outside the Rangers’ ballpark Globe Life Field. “Everybody was wondering what would happen if the Rangers didn’t win the World Series. I guess we’ll never know.”The 29-year-old Seager also surprised fans after Friday’s parade by serving food at the fast-food chain Raising Cane’s.He admitted that Bregman’s words — which were posted by the Astros’ social-media accounts — were used as motivation by the Rangers during the postseason..
“You just find ways to motivate yourself. We were a motivated team and you find any way to stay motivated.”Seager, who signed a 10-year contract worth $325 million with Texas before the 2022 season, belted three home runs with six RBIs in the Rangers’ five-game World Series victory over the Diamondbacks to join Sandy Koufax, Bob Gibson and Reggie Jackson as the only players in baseball history to be named MVP of the Fall Classic for a second time.
