Members of the public were warned not to approach Sean 'Lugs' McGovern after he vanished from HMP Castle Huntly
A prisoner who allegedly absconded from an open prison earlier this month has been traced following more than a week of searching.
Members of the public were warned not to approach Sean 'Lugs' McGovern after he vanished from HMP Castle Huntly on the outskirts of Dundee on Sunday June 11. Police launched a nationwide search for the alleged absconder that is said to have culminated in his discovery earlier today. McGovern is due to appear in court in Perth tomorrow. A Police Scotland spokesperson said a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.
The spokesperson added: "Sean McGovern, 39, who had absconded from HMP Castle Huntly, Dundee, on Sunday, 11 June, 2023 has been traced and returned to prison.
