KUALA LUMPUR: Police have recorded a statement from Sungai Pelek assemblyman Ronnie Liu after he visited families of DAP members caught for alleged involvement with the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam last year.
"They asked why I did that, and I told them I did so as I sympathised with the family members," he said."I told them that I said believed those arrested were not involved, there was no evidence, and I also asked police to release them quickly as Deepavali was just around the corner then," he said. On Feb 21, then Attorney General Tan Sri Tommy Thomas dropped all charges against the 12 individuals accused of supporting LTTE.
