Comm Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said the police had scrutinised the 12-minute video recording of the speech.
“A total of eight witnesses were called up to assist the investigation as well,” he told a press conference at the state police headquarters yesterday.“We are in the midst of tracking down the individual for making a false statement.
“The case is being investigated under Section 500 of the Penal Code, Section 233 of the Communications as well as the Multimedia Act 1998, and Section 4A of the Election Offences Act 1954,” he said. It was recently reported that the Selangor Islamic Religious Department was investigating claims that Fahmi had delivered a political speech at a mosque in Kampung Melayu Seri Kundang, Rawang.
A Facebook post that made its rounds on social media recently, claimed that the minister had touched on political issues in a mosque.
