The unidentified man's death was ruled a homicide.
A homicide investigation was underway Thursday after a torso was found floating in the water in Elizabeth earlier this week, officials said.
Officers were called to the waterfront on South Front Street shortly before 5 p.m. on Tuesday and found the torso of a Caucasian man floating in the area where the Arthur Kill and Elizabeth River converge, according to a joint statement from the Union County Prosecutor’s Office and the Elizabeth Police Department.
The body was recovered and taken to the Union County Medical Examiner’s Office, which ruled the unidentified man’s death a homicide, police said. No other information was released.
