KUALA LUMPUR: A new scam tactic has been detected by Bukit Aman where scammers send an email claiming that the recipient has an outstanding traffic summons.

The email also has a link for the recipient to"pay your fine" and advice to resolve the issue in order to avoid further punitive action.

"A notice of payment, as far as the police are concerned, is the summons itself," he said when contacted on Tuesday . He urged the public to be cautious when opening such email with unverified links as scammers can use such links for phishing scams. “This contradicts the principles set out in policy , which was put in place to preserve a harmonious community environment.“Failure to do so could result in serious legal repercussions, including the possibility of prosecution.
