GEORGE TOWN: Penang police are giving their full cooperation to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) regarding the alleged corrupt practices involving 12 of its officers.
GEORGE TOWN: Penang police are giving their full cooperation to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission regarding the alleged corrupt practices involving 12 of its officers.
Sources said the officers were alleged to have received a total of RM500,000 from lorry transport companies as an inducement not to take action against overloaded vehicles.Yesterday, a Magistrate’s Court here granted the MACC the seven-day remand to hold the officers, aged between 31 and 59, until March 17.
Nine people, including a JPJ assistant enforcement officer and a former Land Public Transport Commission officer, were charged in court for bribery.Meanwhile, Bukit Aman’s Integrity and Standard Compliance Department will conduct investigations on the case from various angles.
