A driver was killed after being ejected from their car on the outbound Dan Ryan near the Stevenson Expressway causing solid traffic Friday morning.
Illinois State Police blocked the local southbound lanes at 31st Street and directed traffic onto the express lanes after the crash around 5 a.m.
The driver of a Jeep Wrangler fell out of the vehicle for unknown reasons and the car ran off the roadway striking a concrete median, according to state police. The person was then struck by two vehicles, one of which fled the scene. The individual that was struck was later identified as Rosia Mitchell, an assistant principal at Brookwood Junior High School in Glenwood. A driver was ejected from their vehicle in a single-car crash on the outbound Dan Ryan near the Stevenson Expressway Friday morning.Mitchell was pronounced dead on scene. No other injuries were reported.
