A Cleveland man was sentenced to life in prison Thursday for killing two people last year.

Published: Jun. 20, 2024, 1:15 p.m.Express-TimesCLEVELAND, Ohio –

Mary Catherine Corrigan, Blackwell’s defense attorney, said her client maintained his innocence. Blackwell claimed he killed Nash in self-defense. He also denied any involvement in Norman’s death.“This man is a violent individual who deserves to spend the rest of his life behind bars and with this sentence, he will not be eligible for release until he is 91 years old,” Michael O’Malley, the county’s prosecutor, said in a statement. “Our community is much safer with him off the streets.

Three months later, on April 7, Blackwell and Christopher Thompson, 28, killed Norman, 40, at a home near Anson Avenue and East 49th Street in Cleveland, prosecutors said. Thompson pleaded guilty to a charge of involuntary manslaughter last week. Clancy sentenced Thompson on Thursday to six years in prison.
