A 38-year-old convicted felon was arrested by a SWAT team on Monday in connection with a drive-by shooting in Seattle’s Greenwood neighborhood last month. On Dec. 28, the suspect, driving a rented Jeep, fired several shots at the driver of a silver Maserati SUV in the 10200 block of Linden Avenue North in broad daylight. Both vehicles were later recovered during the investigation. After days of investigating, detectives located the suspect on Jan.
27 inside an apartment near the corner of Lenny Wilkens Way and 1st Avenue North. This area is in Seattle's Lower Queen Anne neighborhood, near the southwest corner of Climate Pledge Arena. According to the Seattle Police Department (SPD), officers served a search warrant, and the SWAT team moved into position. After announcing their presence, officers reported seeing frantic movement by the occupants of the home. Believing the suspect to be armed and dangerous, the SWAT team forced entry into the apartment. As officers entered, the suspect climbed out of a bedroom window onto the ledge of the six-story building in an attempt to escape. SWAT officers then moved to the roof and negotiated with the suspect, telling him his options were to surrender or risk falling. The suspect eventually surrendered and was taken into custody. Detectives later searched the apartment and recovered evidence, including two firearms, several rounds of ammunition, firearm magazines, narcotics, and other items. According to SPD, the suspect is a convicted felon, which legally prohibits him from owning firearms. 'This arrest was possible based on the evidence gathered by North Patrol, and tireless work from GVRU (Gun Violence Reduction Unit),' said a GVRU lieutenant. 'This is an excellent investigation that culminated with holding the suspect accountable and taking multiple guns out of dangerous hands.' The suspect was booked into King County Jail, where he faces multiple charges, including felony assault, drive-by shooting, and two counts of unlawful possession of a firearm
