Thomas said in a statement to CBS 21 news, “As this was an action to hire professional legal services, no formal request for proposal process was necessary. The timing of the action was based upon the desire to move forward with a different solicitor prior to the important job of working with the administration to develop a budget for the upcoming school year.
Danielle Gross, a West Shore community member, commented, “It seems as if they deliberated behind closed doors about which solicitor they’d like to hire. If they’re going to suspend a policy every time they want to violate it, what’s the point of even having policies?” “If this is the individual that is highly qualified, going through the RFP process would allow people to say, ‘Hey, this was a good process,’” said a community member.
