A contractor is suing the city of Seattle over the renovation of Pier 58 on the waterfront, KOMO News reported on Sept. 3, 2024. Pacific Pile and Marine filed the suit in King County Superior Court last week alleging that the city has caused “irreparable damage” over changes to the work order, and indicates it is owed money for repairs.
The project has been complicated from the get-go, as it is part of the grand redevelopment of the waterfront and involves repairing the area that was damaged by the collapse of the previous pier in 2020. The suit also alleges the city is in violation of state law for “failing to issue a change order related to its acceleration directive” and seeks back interest for the change order to speed up the project.PPM said it would have no further comment on the pending legislation. Seattle’s City Attorney nor Mayor responded to immediate requests for comment.
