Andersen said the rescue operation took roughly 90 minutes to extract the man from the trench. Following the collapse, his head remained above ground, and he was able to breathe and communicate, she said.Andersen said the man involved was as a contractor working on a home sewer project. The trench collapsed while he was digging it, before he could shore it up or stabilize it.
