People waved signs that read “Save the Seats,” while a group stood in the back row wearing T-shirts that spelled out the same sentiment. During the Q&A session, attendees raised concerns that removing the seats would drastically change the theater’s programming over time, creating a ripple effect that would raise ticket costs and rental fees for longtime event producers.
However, the Castro Theatre’s beloved organist, David Hegarty, is among those who believe that Another Planet’s proposed renovations will do some good. Frameline Film Festival’s executive director, James Woolley, also voiced his support in the video during the presentation.
