Containing Covid-19 no longer possible, says ex-deputy health minister

FORMER deputy health minister Dr Lee Boon Chye today said it is no longer possible for the Health Ministry to contain the Covid-19 pandemic as the number of cases and close contacts are too high. “The number or cases and contacts is enormous and it is unlikely the Health Ministry is able to track and isolate all. Hence containment is no more possible. We should focus on mitigation, i.e. reduce the number of cases and optimise the healthcare resource,” he said in aEffective July 2018, access to full reports will only be available with a subscription.
