As we continue to cover Consumer Protection Week, Alaska Attorney General, Treg Taylor offers more advice for fellow Alaskans on two very important topics: debt collections and auto issues.

Debt is an ongoing issue that no one likes to talk about, but it is not uncommon here in the United States, and that includes Alaska.This includes the use of profanity, as well as contacting them between 9 p.m. and 8 a.m. unless the consumer has agreed otherwise.

“No one deserves to be harassed or threatened. There are many legitimate means for debt collectors to work, and most debt collection agencies follow the law,” Taylor said. “Fortunately, the law protects consumers against the rogue actors who resort to illegal tactics.”With used car prices at an all-time high, Assistant Attorney General of Alaska, John Haley encourages people to look into a car’s history on Carfax since certain auto dealers don’t always provide detailed information.
