Manuel Leon, 27, was working as a traffic flagman at a work site on Cool Valley Road in Valley Center Wednesday when he was struck
Authorities publicly identified a 27-year-old construction worker who was killed last week when a suspected hit-and-run driver's car struck him on a rural road in Valley Center. Manuel Leon of Fallbrook was working as a traffic flagman at a work site on Cool Valley Road, a few miles west of Harrah's Resort Southern California, when an eastbound Toyota Corolla hit him shortly before 7 a.m. Wednesday, according to the Medical Examiner's Office and California Highway Patrol.
He remained jailed Tuesday in lieu of $150,000 bail and faces up to four years in custody if convicted. A GoFundMe account to help Leon's family notes that he was the father of a 7-year-old girl and a 4-year-old boy, and that his wife is pregnant with their third child, a boy due to be born in May. 'He was working to provide for our kids to give them everything they could possibly need and want.
