The DOT and local businesses are working together to build a cul de sac while expanding a parking lot.
FAIRBANKS, Alaska - The Alaska Dept. of Transportation is collaborating with local businesses to complete the final leg of a project that saw most of the work come to an end last season.
While the work on University Avenue itself is finished, the overall project will finally see full completion this season. Adjacent to University Way, this road work involves the exchange of land between the nearby businesses and the right of way for the DOT. “In order to get the full size of the cul de sac put together for a normal street configuration, we needed to acquire part of the parking lot of the local businesses and exchange part of the old access way that connected to Geraghty to be made into the parking lot for the local business,” Perreault explained.
