Residents can’t wait for the opening of the new Cuyahoga County Public Library Parma Heights branch, which is currently under construction.

The Cuyahoga County Public Library’s new Parma Heights branch is currently under construction at the Greenbrier Commons. PARMA HEIGHTS, Ohio -- Residents can’t wait for the opening of the new Cuyahoga County Public Library Parma Heights branch, which is currently under construction.

Groundbreaking began in the fall of 2024 with the year-long construction expected to be completed by the end of 2025. However, that was pushed back to the first quarter of 2026 with the grand-opening date now scheduled for April 11. Cuyahoga County Public Library Chief Communications and External Relations Officer Kate McCreary said the slight delay was due to an unforeseen issue with the gas line, which required increased capacity. “We strive to create safe, modern spaces as efficiently as possible and without interrupting service to our customers,” she said. “We’re on track to complete the new Cuyahoga County Public Library Parma Heights Branch in April without further delays.” Located next to the Cassidy Theatre, with connector trails to the Cleveland Metroparks, the 22,000-square foot Parma Heights branch -- estimated to cost $16 million -- will boast an innovation center, full-service drive-up window, collaboration and meeting spaces. The new building -- which replaces the existing 15,500-square-foot Parma Heights branch built in 1963 -- will serve as the new home of Cuyahoga County Public Library’s Aspire Greater Cleveland and the home of a regional Early Childhood Education and Training Center. The former is an adult education service and workforce development program that Mori said will offer free comprehensive assistance throughout Cuyahoga County. Cuyahoga County Public Library COO Jeff Mori previously told cleveland.com the new branch will provide exceptional spaces and services to Parma Heights residents through more state-of-the-art meeting and study rooms, as well as an Innovation Center that supports creativity and entrepreneurship. “We’re also focusing on convenience and connection with the addition of a drive-up transaction window and incorporation of the Big Creek Connector Trail,” he said. The new branch is located on a 3-acre lot that was formerly the home of the NEO Soccer facility, which was demolished in 2023.“The community is eager for this space to open,” she said. “That enthusiasm speaks to how much this library means for learning, connection and community pride. We’re looking forward to celebrating together very soon.”
