The Leeds United boss' second-half changes paid off at Huddersfield with some experienced players introduced
Leeds United saw the true value of Connor Roberts' experience in Saturday's 1-1 draw with Huddersfield Town, according to manager Daniel Farke. The Whites were made to scrap for a point in a difficult game against the Championship strugglers, with Patrick Bamford's second-half effort ensuring their unbeaten league run in 2024 continues.
While they were frustrated they couldn't push on to get the win against a Huddersfield side who had seen Jonathon Hogg sent off earlier, Farke was pleased with how Roberts in particular was able to influence the game - and he hinted at the potential role he could have as Leeds look to get over the promotion line in the remaining 11 games.
"And then it's also important sometimes to bring some experience in, players who are used to such a such a game and deal with it and they stay positive. It also changed our positioning a bit in the second half because we got the feeling the centre was so close it was difficult to create, so we have to use wings a bit more.
Roberts could push his cause for a starting place against Stoke City on Tuesday night, with Farke fully aware of the need to keep his players fresh. Leeds also face Sheffield Wednesday on Friday night as the Championship fixture list starts to crank up.
