In “Confess, Fletch,” Jon Hamm stars as the troublesome and titular journalist, who becomes the prime suspect in a murder case while searching for a stolen art collection. To prove his innocence, he must find out which of the long list of suspects is the culprit, from an eccentric art dealer and a missing playboy to a crazy neighbor and his girlfriend.

A reboot of the “Fletch” franchise starring Chevy Chase, who debuted the role of Irwin “Fletch” Fletcher in 1985, has been in the works for part of three decades with various names attached including Kevin Smith, Jason Lee, Zach Braff, Jason Sudeikis and others. Known for playing Don Draper on the Emmy-winning AMC series “Mad Men,” Hamm is also a gifted comedic performer who has shown off his chops in films like “Bridesmaids” and TV shows like “Saturday Night Live,” and he appears to seamlessly inhabit the deadpan character who can’t catch a break. It also re-teams him with his “Mad Men” pal John Slattery.
