Early aughts hitmaker John Ondrasik, known by the moniker Five For Fighting, came to the House of Blues Friday nigh, for a spirited thirteen-song set. As a songwriter, he's mostly known for penning"100 Years" and"Superman." The former song has been used in more than 350 movies, TV shows, and commercials, making sure Ondrasik's children will get a very good college education and a trust fund somewhere along the line.
Starting the set with a few tunes only the die-hards would recognize, he pivoted into"Ok ," a song about the turmoil in Ukraine. The show turned into a political treatise, as he addressed the October 7th events in Israel last year and its effect on him. The smallish-but-devoted crowd hung on his every word, and a few attendees actually held up Israeli flags.
He covered a few tunes, most notably Elton John's"Rocket Man," and ended the show with a decent cover of Queen's magnum opus,"Bohemian Rhapsody."Photo by Brian LumleyPhoto by Brian LumleyPhoto by Brian LumleyPhoto by Brian LumleyPhoto by Brian Lumley
