Jacinta Price has claimed the Voice may lead to an increase of people falsely claiming to be Indigenous leading to concerns raised on how one’s Aboriginality can be checked.

“Here in Australia we have a variety of ways within government … on how to determine somebody’s indigeneity,” said Nationals Senate Leader Bridget McKenzie.

“Ideally in this country, we would have an agreed position between state and federal governments and across agencies themselves,” Ms Mckenzie told Sky News host Sharri Markson. “We need to have one system before we actually start doing something as serious as determining government policy and executive decisions based on one’s Aboriginality.”
