There's roughly 800 permit parking streets across Nottingham
Nottingham residents have expressed concern over potential plans for extra permit parking charges as the city council looks to balance its budget. There are roughly 800 permit parking streets across Nottingham and some residents living on these permit streets are ‘disgusted’ with the additional charges.
Streets with permit parking scenes can be found across Nottingham and residents in The Meadows where many streets such as Mickledon Close, Launder Street and Balfron Gardens are permitted, have shared their concern.Linda McGowan, 71, doesn’t drive but she has three parking permits, one for her son, and the other two for friends and family who visit.
“I think it’s disgusting because that’s not ok for us. I thought they were bringing it in to protect us but they’ve penalised us, how they’re charging us. I don't think they should be doing this.” Janet Clay, shared concern for the price of the extra charges. The 54-year-old said: “It’s awful, who can afford these charges? We use all three permits and always have visitors. Most families have multiple cars, and on top of that visitors, people have no choice but to pay it.
