Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced offers a vast world filled with collectibles, but few are as rewarding without being overly time-consuming as the 16 Mayan Stones scattered across the map.
Each stone requires solving a simple puzzle, and once you find the first during the main story, they will appear as standard collectibles on your map. The game provides a helpful tooltip indicating whether an island contains a Mayan Stone, but only for islands you have already discovered-it does not reveal the locations of undiscovered stones. If you want precise locations and rewards, this guide covers everything you need.
To begin collecting Mayan Stones, you must first complete the Sequence 4 campaign mission Overrun and Outnumbered in Tulum, where you defend thelocation from a Templar invasion. After regaining favor with the Brotherhood, the character Kidd will reveal the Mayan Mysteries side quest, letting you start the treasure hunt. As experienced earlier with the first tutorial stone on Great Inagua during the main story mission This Old Cove, each puzzle involves rotating symbols to align with glowing rock markings.
Keep in mind that you can also scale the shapes, which helps with more challenging puzzles later. The quest itself is passive-it does not track your progress or require interactions beyond finding each stone. Your goal is to collect all 15 remaining stones to complete the questline and earn the reward Kidd hints at in the Mayan temple. Although you technically start in Tulum, it is easier to begin on Great Inagua to follow a linear path.
The locations are listed below, moving in a rough circle before returning near the starting area. If you struggle to find a stone, it will appear on your map after synchronizing nearby points; larger islands may need additional synchronization points closer to the stone. For reference, exact coordinates are provided. You can check collection status by hovering over an area: a white Mayan Stelae label means uncollected, while a golden label with a checkmark means already gathered.
Some islands-Pinos Isle, Misteriosa, and Isla Providencia-contain two stones each, meaning you only need to visit 12 distinct islands to finish. Collecting all 16 Mayan Stones rewards you with the Legendary Mayan Armor and the Legendary Yax Tun pendant. The armor is a visually upgraded version of the original from Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag, but in Black Flag Resynced it is purely cosmetic-no stat bonuses.
The Yax Tun pendant grants immunity to bullets and firearms, which is extremely useful against guard towers or enemy ships with heavy firepower. This reward can make combat trivial, so the stones are not urgent early-game objectives.
However, for completionists, the Mayan Mysteries quest is one of the most satisfying side activities in the game's open-sea exploration
