light rail service has been suspended due to technical difficulties, causing peak hour commuter chaos.
Services were suspended on part of the L2/L3 CBD and South East Lines between Central and Circular Quay at about 1pm on Friday due to damaged overhead wires on George Street. “Technical crews have been dispatched to the site to remedy the problem,” transport company responsible for the system, Transdev, said in a statement.L2/L3 trams will continue to run between Central and the suburbs, but commuters have been warned to allow for plenty of extra travel time.
“Customer service staff have been deployed to Central Chalmers, Chinatown and Circular Quay stops to assist customers, Public Information Displays are being updated as necessary,” Transdev said.L1 Dulwich Hill Line services are continuing to run as normal.Credit:Trains are also not running between Revesby and Glenfield on the T8 Airport and South Line due to the same overhead wiring issue at Panania.Your cookie settings are preventing this third party content from displaying.
