It was an impromptu party Sunday as San Franciscans said goodbye San Francisco Centre. After nearly 40 years, the doors to this iconic mall are permanently closed. Many shared memories that they looked back on fondly.

And, you know, for it to be gone is going to be truly missed. We hope that they turn it into something very special," said Otis Harris.Harris has lived in San Francisco his entire life, and says he's glad his daughter was able to share the experience. She was born and raised here too, and it's sad to see them all go. She remembers going here, me and mom. I'm taking her here, my wife, and, you know, it's just -- it's just a beautiful thing," he said."You know, if you want to play music, just, you know, meet a friend, shake your hand," said Antwan Shelbua. "Just create a memory that it's going to be forever, because hopefully it's going to be posted somewhere that people can see it forever."People were capturing photos and videos of the moment, which included a meaningful turnout. "That is everything," said Jasmine Lee. "You know, a lot of people don't think about community when I think of downtown or even the TL, but it is a beautiful community within the area, and it's really nice. Because it still goes to show that there's people from the city still living here, and like, it's like they're proud." The crowd is now hoping to be proud of whatever comes next for the beloved building -- the new owners have yet to announce what that will be.
