Alison Brie debunks rumors about her casting in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law. The new legal comedy by Jessica Gao is a tonal shift for the MCU, as it expands the genre diversity between its projects. She-Hulk stars Tatiana Maslany as Jennifer Walters, Bruce Banner 's cousin who develops the ability to "Hulk" like him after getting contaminated with his blood during an accident.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY She-Hulk: Attorney at Law has been received positively by fans, with praise going toward the light-heartedness, feminist storytelling, and Maslany's compelling performance. Maslany has undoubtedly proven to be an excellent casting pick for Walters, even though there were reports earlier that Marvel was eyeing a different actress for the role.
"I have no idea. I don't know if we'll ever know if it was legit... it was odd; it was definitely odd. There was like a man... like, in that time period I went to pick up a sandwich at a sandwich shop and there was a man who was like, 'In just read that you got cast as She-Hulk.' I was like, 'well, you're the first one who has told me about it. Maybe I should check with my agents. There's a lot of misinformation going on when it came to She-Hulk.
While there is no definite confirmation if Marvel was actually scouting Brie as the template for the casting of Walters, it wouldn't have been even the least bit surprising if the report was true. During her time on GLOW, Brie not only demonstrated a commendable physical prowess as Ruth Wilder/ Zoya the Destroya, but she also exhibited her ability to portray a well-rounded, intelligent, progressive woman who can slip into action whenever the need be.
One reason why Marvel might not have pursued Brie for She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, is because there was a possibility that coming off her role in GLOW, her performance in the MCU show could have felt repetitive. When Walters' role was being cast, Brie was fans' top pick for the role. But it seems that Marvel did not want to hire an actress who has an obvious choice; rather, the studio wanted to surprise fans with its choice of She-Hulk.
