Police identified the victim of Wednesday’s shooting at Alderwood Mall in Lynnwood as 13-year-old Jayda Woods-Johnson.
Jayda Woods-Johnson was shot and killed in the Alderwood mall food court by a 16-year-old boy on July 3, 2024. Woods-Johnson was uninvolved in a preceding altercation between two groups, police said. “Our heart is, of course, with this victim who was shot and had nothing to do with the altercation and anything else,” said Deputy Chief Patrick Fagan of the Lynnwood Police Department.
Lynnwood Mayor Christine Frizzell addressed the incident in a statement, calling it a ‘horrible tragedy.’
