A community is left on edge after a 10-year-old boy was shot in a drive-by this morning. Officers arrived at the home on West French Place near I-10 to find the boy had been shot in the ankle while sleeping in the front living room. “We don't feel good about it, we're scared. I mean, this is not the first time it happens there, and so we are scared, very nervous about it, and we would like for it to stop,” said a concerned resident.“You never know which way the bullets are going. So, it is very scary. We don't even want to look out the window,” they said.60-Year-Old Jesus Ortega has just returned after dropping his wife off at work when someone in a black sedan opened fire hitting him in the head.

“The prior grandfather got killed there. It would maybe be to their best interest to find another place to live.” they added. Since January 1st of 2024 there have been 8 calls for service to the home, including calls for a shooting in progress and a suspicious vehicle with a gun.Five people were tied up, duct-taped and shot in the head in August of that year.

Police say the murders were ordered by a Texas Mexican mafia member who was executed by the state of Texas in March of 2007.
