This incident prompted the establishment of the Tamborine Mountain Community Disaster Preparedness Working Group aimed at equipping community members with the skills to be more self-reliant during disasters. The group aims to expedite recovery efforts in future disasters.

Meanwhile, the Gold Coast Motor Museum, managed by Carl Amor, was also severely damaged by the storms. The estimated damage stands at $2 billion. Stephen Moriarty, a local councillor and chair of the Scenic Rim Local Disaster Management Group, emphasized the importance of a proactive community approach
