The 27th annual Lemon Festival in downtown Chula Vista is from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Aug.17. Third Avenue will be filled with all things lemon as part of a celebration of Chula Vista’s agricultural heritage. Highlights include lemon-themed bites and sips, two stages of live music, a lemon cook-off competition, arts and crafts vendors, photo opportunities and the Little Lemons kids’ area in Memorial Park.
The San Diego Blood Bank will hold blood drives in the following parking lots :Sharp Coronado Hospital, 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Aug. 1, parked next to auditorium at 265 Soledad Place, Coronado.Pacific Beach/Taylor Branch Library, 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Aug. 2, parked in front of the library at 4275 Cass St., San Diego.Starbucks, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Aug. 3 at 4227 Genesee Ave., San Diego.
Saint Michael’s Catholic Church, 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 4 in Holy Family Center, 15546 Pomerado Road, Poway.HD Supply, 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Aug. 8 at 101 Riverview Parkway, Santee.Islamic Center of San Diego, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 9 at 833 Broadway, El Cajon.Chula Vista Crossings, 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Aug. 18 at 1870 Main Court, Chula Vista.
Donors must be 17 and older, weigh at least 114 pounds, and be in good health. Photo identification is required.
