A community councillor has been exposed as a right-wing online hate peddler. Jamie Brown, Chair of Invergowrie and Kingoodie Community Council near Dundee, is accused of being in the far-right Homeland Party - which has encouraged its members to infiltrate parish and community councils. Brown, a post office worker, previously went by the pseudonym “Mean Peem” and spewed antisemitic hate, including speaking positively of Hitler’s Germany.

As a community councillor, he recently enjoyed local press coverage for a campaign against proposed bus cuts in rural Perthshire. Now, the anti-racism campaign group Hope Not Hate has claimed Brown is a key activist of notorious group Homeland. It was formed as a splinter organisation from the ultra-extremist Patriotic Alternative (PA) - the UK’s most active fascist group. Hope Not Hate said Brown had engaged in holocaust denial and praised the Nazis in 2021 while posting on an anti-vaccine group on Telegram
