Their main focus with the Market has been to create a space for the whole community
The Old Library in Waterfoot shut its doors after co-owner, Lynne Kemp, passed away from bowel cancer on July 21 at the age of 68. The beloved mother-of-two opened the Bacup Road based not-for-profit cafe in 2017 with her husband, Martin.
“Our biggest drive for re-developing Rawtenstall Market was to make sure it could reach its full potential and understood the significance of the space to existing customers as we are a local family ourselves. The team are particularly excited to link their Curated Collection of local makers and creators, events diary, and workshop evenings with the new Waterfoot locations.
Former owner of the cafe, Martin Kemp, said: “I’m delighted The Old Library is re-opening and hope that all our loyal customers will give it a try and that it will once again become a focal point for meeting up with friends. From discussions with the old team, the pair quickly understood the necessity to get The Old Library back open as soon as possible with the same excellent food and drink offerings. Steven and Dan say this is essential to keep the staff in work and for the customers to have a place to come back to. They have also been in contact with the previous chef and they will be recruiting for another chef to support the kitchen.
