The union representing bus drivers is calling for staff who are \u0022more than security,\u0022 and are able to provide outreach to people in crisis.
Darcy Pederson, president of Amalgamated Transit Union Local 615 representing Saskatoon Transit drivers, told the committee the decrease in problems between riders and drivers appears to coincide with the installation ofon about a third of the city’s bus fleet. He said he expects the numbers to decline further as barriers are installed in the rest of the city’s buses this spring.
