During the 2022 season, the team started three different quarterbacks: Carson Wentz, Taylor Heinicke, and Sam Howell. Heinicke ended the season as the leading passer, throwing for 1,859 yards.In their final game of the season, the Commanders defeated the Dallas Cowboys 26-6 to avoid a losing record. The Commanders finished the 2022 season 8-8-1. They missed the playoffs and finished last in the NFC East.
