Commanders coach Dan Quinn and others criticized Eagles coach Nick Sirianni's decision to attempt a two-point conversion late in their game, deeming it disrespectful. Sirianni defended the move as mathematically sound, while the Commanders felt it was unnecessary given the score.

Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni watches action during the second half of an NFL football game against the Denver Broncos on Sunday, Oct. 5, 2025, in Philadelphia. Commanders coaches, players, fans and media members are ripping Sirianni’s decision to go for two points with 4:26 remaining in the fourth quarter of Saturday‘s game at Northwest Stadium.

The Eagles were in complete control, leading 27-10, so Commanders coach Dan Quinn, among others, thought the decision was disrespectful. Philadelphia successfully converted the two-point play, winning 29-18 over the Commanders.“By the way, the low road is the preferred road for that franchise typically and for that coach. So no surprise there,”. “But again, I hold open the possibility that he’s so oblivious that it wasn’t intentional. ... Washington put themselves in the position to get punked by a classless head coach and franchise because they’re nowhere near as good as that team.” Sirianni said after the game that his decision to go for two points was math-based. He figured it was better to go up 19 points instead of 18 in case the Commanders pulled off a comeback in the final four minutes. That wasn’t likely to happen, especially with Josh Johnson at quarterback for Washington. Still, Sirianni’s logic makes sense. During his post-game interview, Quinn talked about getting revenge against Philadelphia in Week 18. However, by then, the Eagles will likely be resting all their starters.Cayden Steele covers the Philadelphia Eagles and sports commerce for NJ Advance Media.
