The Commission on Elections (Comelec) is poised to start the nationwide distribution of ballots for the May 9 elections.
In a press conference Tuesday evening at the Comelec warehouse in Pasig City, Commissioner Aimee Ferolino said the actual deployment of the ballots will begin around midnight of April 20., will be the deployment of the official ballots," she said.
Ferolino added that the poll body targets to distribute all ballots by May 5. She said these election materials will be sent directly to the treasurer's office of cities and municipalities, in the presence of election watchers and officers. "We have also the representatives from the PNP and AFP , from the security sector, na siyang mag-ensure [who will ensure] that our cargoes, the official ballots…ay makarating sa destination na [will arrive at the destination] safe and secure," Ferolino said.
Meanwhile, Commissioner George Garcia told CNN Philippines' Newsroom Ngayon that"almost 100%" of the vote counting machines that will be used on May 9 have already been distributed.
