The Commission on Higher Education signed a memorandum of agreement with the Commission on Elections on Friday for the provision of manpower with skills to operate the technological tools to be used for next year’s midterm elections.
CHED chairman Prospero De Vera III said Comelec will utilize the students and personnel from Higher Institutions with IT programs to handle modern electoral technologies and processes.“One of the biggest problems in every election in the Philippines is the lack of skilled manpower in various aspects of the election. We often have too many voters, but never enough people to handle activities during the election period,” De Vera said.
“Our partnership with the COMELEC therefore is one of the solutions to boost manpower that is skilled and competent in handling modern electoral technologies and processes for the forthcoming 2024 National and Local elections,” he added.Comelec chief George Garcia said with the help of HEIs, the upcoming election will double its integrity in terms of monitoring its technical aspect.
