Hannah Platt, 31, said that her bullying hell led her to suffer from body dysmorphia.

Comedian Hannah Platt backed the Daily Record’s Our Kids ... Our Future campaign as she opened up about her own hell at the hands of school bullies.

She said: “It is good the Record are highlighting these issues because it is so important to talk about bullying and mental health. It is not something that is going to go away. But because it is not related to something new, people tend to get bored with it, so it is great that the paper has a focus on it.”

She said: “I’ve always had a harsh view of the world but when I got diagnosed with body dysmorphia about three years ago, it made me realise that if my perception of myself is wrong maybe my perception of the world is wrong. It is about me unpicking that. Hannah added: “I used to get very badly bullied for the way I look. I was such a weird, awkward kid, so I always thought there are so many other things to pick from, so why would you pick on the way I look? It becomes such a thing you internalise it. The bullies aren’t needed any more, you become your own bully.”
