'It's important for our young people to understand the importance of (Black) women and girls in our community because a lot of times, we are not getting the equity.'
"It's important for our young people to understand the importance of women and girls in our community because a lot of times, we are not getting the equity," Richardson said."We don't necessarily get the pay that we deserve, the access that people need, the mentoring, the support to empower themselves and their community. So, I would love people to be a part of it.
"My hopes are for people to come, to share their love, their support and just share in a day of celebrating women, girls and gender-expansive people of color," Richardson said.
